HDB announces CCK BTO to be launched in Aug 2020

29th May 2020 - HDB confirmed today that the delayed May 2020 BTO will be launched in Aug 2020. HDB will combine both May and Aug launches together to form a massive 7000+ new flats for sale.
On the backdrop of a potential economic downturn ahead due to COVID-19, many are wondering if the prices will be lower than past BTOs.

Construction status 29 May 2020

The construction for Keat Hong Verge, Choa Chu Kang BTO Aug 2020 in still on hold due to circuit breaker. You can see all the half completed prefabricated rooms, living room laying there for the past 2 months. Some of the units are fitted with windows and had some internal painting done. Thou it's unlikely that this will be the finishing coat of paint, it is still bad for the concrete and rebars to be exposed to the elements for so long. The iron rebars if not sealed properly, will corrode and expand leading to spalling concrete over a period. The same goes for the foundation which is also exposed to the elements for 2 months already.

The quiet site is in stark contrast to the situation on the opposite plot of land, where construction works had been non-stop everyday. And the work site seems to be growing larger everyday.
Do u think it will become a mega dormitory for our foreign workers?

According to the lastest site map by HDB, that 2 plots of land are still reserved for Healthcare facilities.

So many guessed it may be a mega temporary construction worker dormitory to support the nearby construction only as the G made it mandatory for workers at the same site to stay together and not mingle with other workers from other sites.

Have you seen other similar urgent dormitory construction in other housing estate? Let us know in the comment below.

Embracing Foreign Workers

Update from unverified sources confirmed the plot will be used for housing our FW dormitory.
While we are unsure if it is a temporary accommodation or a permanent one, the urgency and scale of construction leans towards a permanent site for our FW. We can confirm once the actual construction commence from the type of structure and construction method... Stay tuned

The Name of Choa Chu Kang BTO 2020 is out - Keat Hong Verge

We found that OneMap has updated the Choa Chu Kang BTO site with the site plan and the name of the BTO. It's officially called Keat Hong Verge. And if your did not already know, it comprises 3 blocks of residential flat (819A, 820A, 820B), a MSCP (819) and a community pavillion (820). There is also a childcare centre located at the MSCP. It is unlikely to have any retail shops or F&B outlet within the development.

New Hospital in Choa Chu Kang?

We noticed some land survey works are carried out this week during the Circuit Breaker on the plot of land zoned for Healthcare institution.
The same plot of land is also a potential site for the proposed new NSL MRT Station between Bukit Gombak and Choa Chu Kang.
Circled plot of land
Plot next to ITE College West
Excavator and site entrance along Choa Chu Kang Grove
More excavators on the field.

With the construction for Choa Chu Kang BTO Keat Hong Verge delayed due to COVID-19 Circuit Breaker, it would be surprising if G is pushing ahead with infrastructure and amenities construction. Or could it be something else?

More Healthcare facilities in the West for our aging population and to combat the pandemic is always welcomed.
If it is a healthcare institution, residents would benefit it could mean that the proposed MRT Station may be build earlier, to support the increase in population from Tengah Estate and new flats in the area. The area currently is served by 2 shuttle bus services and LRT.

Despite the fact that the site is zoned for Healthcare, it could also be a temporary occupancy license to use the vacant land for a short period of time such as showflat, dorms, event space, etc.

We will only find out in couple of weeks when there's further information.

Do you think the resale prices of the flats in the vicinity will be affected by the construction of the hospital? Considering the the sound of ambulance siren will be a norm to anyone that stays near a hospital.
